Trials of Insight

More Sherlock and less Spider-Man; insight has more to do with the skill of observation and attunement to one’s self and surroundings than to any paranormal or psychic ability.

Obi-Wan: Master Yoda says I should be mindful of the future.

Qui-Gon: But not at the expense of the moment.

“Difficult to see; always in motion is the future.” – Master Yoda

The following tasks fall within the Trial of Insight. Journal your [journey] and how it relates to the Jedi path for review by the council.

Read

Read Anything! Every day.  Read to learn. Read to teach. Read to entertain.

Allow a collection of words to pass through your eyes, into your brain, and out your mouth.

Learn diplomacy by reading How to Win Friends & Influence People, by Dale Carnegie.

Write

Anything!

A story. A letter. A poem. A journal entry. A summary or critique of something you've read.

Don't be a troll.

Ask Questions

"Be an interested listener." – Dale Carnegie

Ask silly questions. Ask insightful and philosophical questions. Ask genuine questions to really get to know the other person. Be bold enough to pose a question to a stranger.

Be humble enough to seek correction from a superior (everyone is better than you at something; learn from them.)

"Many of the truths that we cling to depend on our point of view." – Obi-Wan Kenobi

Puzzle Yourself

Crossword puzzles, riddles, trivia, word searches, Candy Crush, escape rooms, etc. The assortment and combination of "games" doesn't matter as much as pinpointing and utilizing their inherent benefits.

Don't waste hours on mindless play; be mindful. Observe patterns, enhance your vocabulary, find pleasure in the challenge, and satisfaction in its completion.
